About the NH Minority Health Coalition

History

The New Hampshire Minority Health coalition was formed in 1993 by Sandra Hicks and a small group of concerned citizens interested in closing the gaps to the access of community services experienced by the growing population of racial and ethnic minority groups. By 1995, the organization had six volunteer board members and one paid staff member who delivered HIV prevention services. Today, the coalition has a staff of approximately twenty, and is composed of community-based organizations, state and local agencies, local companies and private residents representing diverse, underserved minority communities who are concerned about the appropriate delivery of health care services to these communities.

Our Mission

To identify underserved populations in the state with barriers to accessing appropriate health care, to advocate for adequate and appropriate services and to educate and empower these populations to be active participants in their own health care.
